The 29yr old Brazilian, Philippe Coutinho, recently joins Aston Villa on Loan Deal till the end of the season from Barcelona. He joins his old friend Steven Gerrard, who is now the present coach of the Villians, and his team and his ex-teammate at Liverpool (2013-15).

STEVEN GERRARD
Steven Gerrard left his old club Rangers just after a sensational season in which he won the Scottish Premiership. He joined the one-time European cup(UCL) winning side Aston Villa in the month of November 2021. Gerrard-coached AstonVilla has already made their impact in the league, winning 4 out of his 8 games with an expected PPM(points per match) of 1.50. Though not being present during the recent clash vs Brentford, his impact on the team came to the fore but they were not fully kitted enough to beat Brentford.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEM
Gerrard and Coutinho have a really good relationship and have spent about two and half years together at Liverpool FC with a combined G+A of 84. “If you go and have a look at his record you’ll see a serial winner wherever he goes. He’s won 63 caps for Brazil, played for Barcelona, and was incredible at Liverpool, we don’t think you get a nickname of ‘The Magician’ if you’re not a special footballer.”
EXPECTED IMPACT
Both of them are really hungry for wins at the top level. Aston Villa has now lost 3 out of their last 4 PL games and they need someone who can take them through. Coutinho’s time in Barcelona has been disappointing though, having only 2 goals in 2021 for the Blaugranas. On the other hand, he was getting Player of Year Shouts back in his time at Liverpool.
The playmaker (Coutinho) has racked up 152 top-flight football appearances at his time in England scoring 41 goals and gathering 35 assists. His incredible stats show that he can once again light up English football with his beautiful skillful football.
CONCLUSION
Coutinho will impact Aston Villa’s midfield by getting the ball up the pitch, scoring some quality goals, creating big chances, and so on. He’ll try to lift Villa’s position on the table as well as help them in getting a top-four or top-six spot.
