Why Should You be Watching?

Everton who has a game in hand is just one point behind Chelsea who are currently fourth on the League standings. Chelsea will be looking forward to winning this encounter with the knowledge that a draw will not suffice them to remain in the top four if Everton takes full advantage of their game in hand. Ancelotti’s boys who are chasing their Champion’s League debut will put in their all to find the result at Stanford Bridge on Monday Night.

Build Up and Lineups

Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel will have to make some tough calls ahead of this match. Exactly a year ago, this same fixture, at the same venue ended in a 4-0 demolition of Everton. The man of the match was Billy Gilmour. But since the injury and change of manager, he has found game time increasingly difficult with the likes of Kante, Jorginho, and Kovacic ahead of him in the pecking order. Tammy Abraham was not included in the last match squad. He was out due to a minor ankle strain. Still, it is yet to be known if he is fully recovered. Ben Chilwell and Marcus Alonso are also fighting for places; Same for Hudson Odoi and Reece James. Tiago Silva is also back from injury but Andreas Christensen performance has been superb and its going to be difficult to see him on the bench.

Midfield- Reece James, Kovacic, Jorginho, Ben Chilwell

Attack- Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner

Everton

Everton has been on a high ahead of this game. After the Toffees defeated their eternal rivals in the Merseyside Derby, Everton hasn’t lost a game. Everton has injury concerns with their Columbian playmaker being the biggest. James Rodriguez has missed each of Everton’s last two games. Thus it is unclear whether he will be fit for the trip to London. Tom Davies and Seamus Coleman missed Everton’s win over West Brom on Thursday Night. But Carlo Ancelloti is optimistic that the trio is fit for selection. This means Carlo Ancelloti has a relatively large squad to pick from.

Predicted Lineup

Gk-Pickford

Defence-Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Digne

Midfield- Doucoure, Davies, Gomes

Attack- Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison

Head to Head

Chelsea has won 73 of their past meetings meanwhile Everton has won 58 times. Both sides have accumulated 54 meetings.

Players to Watch Out For

Calvert-Lewin

At the beginning of the season, the outstanding form of Calvert-Lewin was instrumental to Everton. As there was always someone trusted in the box to finish off attacking moves. The Chelsea defense must be wary of the Englishman

Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison (Everton)

Richarlison

In the last two games, Richarlison has scored Everton’s winning goal. He is arguably their most in-form player. Remarkably for him, he has been their major source of putting a shot on target for the Toffees. This is noticeable in their game against Southampton. Richarlison had their only shot on target in the game – fortunately, it was the goal.

Mason Mount

The 22-year old has put all his critics to silence as he has nailed down a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s Team. He is the first name any Chelsea fan wants to see in their Starting Eleven. After scoring the winning goal against Liverpool on Thursday night, he will look to replicate such a brilliant performance against Everton. It was noticeable that Thomas Tuchel substituted him in the game against Liverpool as a precaution to rest him ahead of Monday Night.

Mount (Chelsea)

Timo Werner

He was unfortunate to have had a goal only to be disallowed for a controversial offside against Liverpool but he is always a source of threat for any defence. With his runs and un-relentless pressing off the ball, if the Everton defense loses focus for a split second, they might awake to find the ball at the back of their net.

Conclusion

Carlo Ancelotti returns to Stanford Bridge. Can he bring a halt to the unbeaten run of the London Blues or will Thomas Tuchel defeat yet again another top manager in Europe? The Top Four is at Stake.
