FPL GAMEWEEK 21 SQUADS

Introduction

FPL Matchweek 20 gave us a lot of insight into which team has the momentum to go forward and which team is having trouble being consistent. Chelsea’s new gaffer Thomas Tuchel took charge of his first game against Wolves which ended in a goalless draw. Brighton and Fulham shared points in a goalless draw in their quest to avoid relegation. In what looks like the biggest upset last week, Man Utd lost to Sheffield Utd at Old Trafford for the first time in 48 years!

A huge shocker as Man Utd, who were becoming the favorites to contend for the title this season lost their pole position to their turf rivals Man City following this unforeseen defeat. Pep Guardiola’s side is in impressive form having won all of their last 5 fixtures. Their latest win over West Brom was nothing short of impressive. Arsenal took their revenge in the typical Arsenal way as the final beat the Saints last week to continue their impressive PL comeback. Plenty to talk about for the upcoming week so let’s get going.

GOALKEEPER For FPL

Bernd Leno (ARS- £5)

The German keeper has been on a spree of some sort lately. Recently he achieved a feat that the Gunners couldn’t do since 2008; keeping 5 clean sheets in a row. Leno has been a key player in Arsenal’s defense making crucial saves. He has conceded just 1 goal in his last 5 PL games to put things into perspective. This week Arsenal faces Man Utd which will decide the fate of both the teams. Although it might seem to be a gamble having Leno between the posts but given his form off late it’s a gamble one can take.

DEFENDERS For FPL

Cancelo x Dias x Stones(MCI- £16.6):

These 3 defenders of Man City have simply been fantastic these past few weeks. Joao Cancelo being the main man last week with one goal and assist against West Brom was a remarkable performance. While Stones and Dias ensured the clean sheet for their side. Having these 3 in the defense will probably sort the defense for quite some time. Their recent performance has given the FPL managers a huge sigh of relief as they bring in points on a regular basis.

Thiago Silva (CHE- £5.6)

Should you choose to omit either one of the above 3 mentioned defenders, the perfect alternative would be Thiago Silva. Given how good Ilkay Gundogan is playing, it is understood that FPL managers won’t be able to have more than 2 Man City players in their squad. Silva is the perfect solution to this dilemma. The Brazilian made 3 crucial blocks for his side to make sure his side doesn’t concede against Wolves giving him 9 points in FPL. Chelsea is set to face Burnley this week, an easy fixture on paper. We fancy the Blues winning this one with a clean sheet.

MIDFIELDERS FOR FPL

Bukayo Saka (ARS- £5.3)

Many Arsenal fans compare this young man to the late great Gunner, Rocky Rocastle, who once wore the #7 shirt. His promotion to the senior team at the age of 18 years was questioned by many in the beginning but now he is living up to everyone’s expectations. A goal and an assist in his last match is just another example of this young Gunner’s capabilities. As Arsenal look forward to welcoming arch-rivals Man Utd at the Emirates, Arteta will for sure have him in his squad this week. This will be a crucial fixture for both sides so hopefully, Saka will prevail again.

Saka

Bruno Fernandes (MUN- £11.1)

Just one assist for the Portuguese in his last 4 games. Seems like he is being overshadowed by his own greatness at the moment. He seems to be the main man in Ole’s plans in every game. It is important to understand that United cannot afford to drop points in this fixture because if they do, they will lose a firm grip in the title race. Needless to say, we fancy Bruno to contribute this week and hopefully earn those FPL points.

Tomas Soucek (WHU- £5.3)

To think that this player had a totality of just 3 goals last season, its almost unreal to see that he now has 7 goals this season; a brace in his last match! Tomas Soucek is on the rise this season having being a key player in the midfield. Not only is he good in the attacking front, he is also making crucial blocks in the defence making a total of 13 blocks so far. He is the player that needs to be in your squad because you never know when he will step up to make a difference.

Ilkay Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan (MCI- £5.7)

4 goals in his last 3 games, this veteran midfielder has silenced his critics with his masterpiece of a performance recently. Although he was subbed very early in the second half last week, his performance was praiseworthy. Man City look set to face Sheffield Utd, who are also prepared to face the league leaders having beaten Ole’s Man Utd. We are confident Gundogan will play the match; what’s uncertain is the game time he will get to make enough impact.

Sadio Mane (LIV- £11.8)

A goal and 2 assists last week against Tottenham; a 100% result from Mane. Liverpool finally ended their 450+ minutes goal drought as they prevailed against Jose’s men with the Senegalese contributing in every goal. Liverpool is set to face West Ham this week and we fancy Mane to step up again this week and help his side secure all 3 points.

FORWARDS FOR FPL

Alexandre Lacazette (ARS- £8.3)

A goal and an assist in his last match helped his side secure an easy win against the Saints’ last match. He is a very capable talisman for his side and his recent linkups with Bukayo Saka have bagged quite some results recently. With Aubameyang’s return still uncertain, Lacazette is the man who will anyhow be the one to make a difference this week against Man Utd. We fancy the French #9 to be a crucial factor in this fixture.

FORWARDS FOR FPL

Michail Antonio (WHU- £6.3)

2 goals and an assist in the last 3 games have made Antonio a key player on David Moyes’ side. He is the sole striker for the Hammers that makes the difference in crucial moments. With the recent acquisitions of Jesse Lingard and Said Benrahma, the midfield will be expected to be more creative with the ball and supply Antonio with crucial passes that will help him score more goals. As of now, the Hammers play Liverpool who is currently lacking in defense has the majority of their senior players are injured. This brings in a good opportunity for West Ham to win all 3 points and maintain their contention for a top 4 finish.

Ollie Watkins (AVL- £6.2)

2 goals in his last 2 games, Watkins has been impressive in his recent matches. His swiftness off the ball and his attempts are the signs of top-class player. Given his attacking acumen, Watkins will be a crucial player against Southampton this week. 3 points is much needed for both sides.
