It’s Laliga Round 7 and both Real Madrid and Villarreal are back in action over the weekend. Los Blancos invite the Yellow Submarines to Estadio Santiago Bernabeau. Real would be looking to gather their 6th La Liga win of the season and maintain their top position. While Unai Emery’s side would be looking to win their 2nd match in a row after a series of disappointing 4 draws.
Both the teams gathered impressive wins in the midweek fixtures. Los Blancos extending their winning run thrashing newly promoted Mallorca 6-1 in front of their home crowd. Marco Asensio scoring a hat trick, Benzema earning a brace, and Isco scoring a solitary goal after coming off from the bench. While Villarreal finally earned their much-needed win over Elche at the Estadio de la Ceramica. The scoreline of 4-1 with Alcacer, Jeremy, Trigueros, Groeneveld all names on the scoring sheet.
HEAD TO HEAD
This would be the 41st overall meeting between these two clubs there are no surprises here as Real Madrid are the firm favorite in head-to-head clashes. Los Blancos coming on top on 22 occasions so far while Villarreal has grabbed triumph 4 times with a grand number of 14 matches ending in a stalemate position. The most recent clash between these two teams was held on May 22 2021 at the then home ground of the whites Alfredo di Stefano Stadium with Los Blancos grabbing a late 2-1 win over the Yellow Submarines.
Real Madrid is enjoying a great run in this La Liga season which has made them overlook the injury concerns they have in their camp Kroos, Ceballos, Bale, Marcelo, Mendy continue to recover from their respective injuries while right-back Dani Carvahal picked up a knock in the last match which would keep him in sidelines for at least a month.
Villarreal camp has also been affected by injuries as their star striker Gerard Moreno is expected to sit out of the clash with a muscle niggle while Samu Chukwueze and Dani Raba has returned to full training but were not included in the matchday squad against Elche they will undergo a late fitness test ahead of their trip to Madrid.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
The Los Blancos captain is short of any praise at this moment he is leading both the goalscoring as well as the assists chart this La Liga season. He has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 6 matches with a brace coming in the last match and Real would be expecting some sort of performance from their El Capitano.
The Spaniard started for the first time in this La Liga season and did not disappoint anyone with his performance scoring a hat trick against his former team. Asensio was hit back with an injury which kept him out for a whole footballing season in what was believed to be his year after recovering from that devastating injury he has not been that consistent and has been in and out of the team but with a hat trick under his belt in the last game, it would be difficult for Ancelotti to deny him a starting spot.
Yeremy has been the star player for Unai Emery’s side this season although the Yellow Submarines haven’t scored many goals this season they have scored a total of 6 goals of which Yeremy has been involved in four he scored 1 and assisted 1 against Elche and assisted both the goals against Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid needs to recognize his threat and pay a little bit extra attention to him.
Defending has been the strength of Villarreal they are the team to concede the fewest goals only after Sevilla as the ball has managed to breach the defense only 3 times and the young Spaniard Pau Torres has played an important role in it. After playing a major role for the National side in the Euros he is back to doing the same for his club it would be a major task for the Los Blancos forwards to get past him.
Expect the match to be evenly contested while Real has found the net 21 times Villarreal has conceded just 3 both the teams come into this match on a high-scoring winning note so expect the match to go down to the wire. It would be a game contested between Los Blancos forwards versus the Yellow Submarines Defence line. The final predicted scoreline is 2-1 in favor of Men in Whites.
