In Italy when we talk or even think about football one match which comes to our mind is the Milan Derby. It’s the 2 Milan clubs coming against each other. It’s the Reds of Milan against the Blues of Milan in a Cup Semifinal.
Inter after winning Serie A last season has gone through some changes. They lost their star striker Lukaku and their manager Conte. This season in Serie A Inter has blown hot and cold. They look like a complete team while in some games they look completely disorganized. While their opponents AC Milan have been in terrific form this season, they are in contention for the Serie A title.
While coming into this competition both teams are coming hard-fought wins over 2 tough opponents. Inter defeated Roma with 2 nil margins while AC Milan came off a thumping victory over Lazio. In the first leg, it was even-steven between these two teams.
For AC Milan there are few concerns in the defensive department. Their 2 main defenders Kjaer and Romagnoli doubt for this clash as they have muscle injuries. Also, their right-back
Florenzi is out with a Meniscus injury. Another concern for AC Milan is their star striker Ibrahimovic is having a head injury.
Maignan, Calabria, Tomori, Kalulu, Theo Hernandez, Kessie, Bennacer, Rafael Leao, Brahim Diaz, Saleemaekers, Giroud
For Inter they are pretty much a fully fit squad to choose from. Their only concern is their star defender Bastoni is out injured.
Handanovic, de Vrij, Skriniar, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Perisic, Calhanoglu, Vidal, Barella, Dumfries, Martinez, Dzeko
The Midfield battle
This Clash will be decided by whichever team dominates the midfield. To win the midfield battle each side has one key player with them. For Inter it’s rising star Nico Barella and for AC Milan it’s Kessie. Barella is a box-to-box midfielder who keeps the play going and puts vital interceptions when needed. He can also be a ball carrier and dictate the flow of the game. Kessie on the other hand can play the dual role, he can be the controller for the team by playing CDM or he can also take up the attacking position and provide defense splitting passes. Both can also come up with long race shots as their added advantage. Thus indeed this clash will be won by whoever wins this midfield battle and both players will have come up with their A-game for their respective teams.
All-day after drawing the first leg 0-0, this game will be full of action and drama. Both teams would want to knock out their city rivalry and will go hard at each other. Overall, we can expect a fierce Milan derby tonight.
