The team in Black and Yellow will have a chance to go top of the table early in the season and put rivals Bayern under pressure. But, to do that they need to overcome a tricky challenge in Freiburg on Saturday.

This game comes as an opportunity for BVB to maintain their lead against Bayern, on the other hand, Freiburg would be looking for their first win of the season in front of their home fans. This clash is expected to be a close one, especially considering Dortmund’s recent performance. Freiburg will be playing at home for the first time this season. They would be definitely looking forward to putting up a show against the heavyweights and current DFB-Pokal winners.
Both of these teams are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing display in their last game. Head to Head
These teams have come across each other on 22 occasions. And, quite obviously, Borussia Dortmund holds a clear lead in the head-to-head game. The Black and Yellows have won on 17 occasions while drawing thrice and losing only twice. In fact, Freiburg is Dortmund’s one of their favorite opponents. The last time these two teams met, it ended in a 5-1 thrashing of the team from the black forest, at Signal Iduna Park.
Players to Watch Out For
Freiburg number 7 will have a key role to play once again. He has been with the team for quite some time now. He also has the responsibility of taking important set pieces for his team. Not to forget about his defensive abilities. He seems to be controlling the whole flow of the Freiburg midfield.
Dortmund’s goal machine has started this season from where he left off. In fact, he scored a hat-trick in BVB’s very first game of the season in DFB Pokal. He’ll be expected to find the net as always. Though there have been some speculations about his transfer lately, that should not have any effect on his mindset.
Even though Dortmund is missing some of their very important players, they still have enough quality to overcome this challenge. They should be coming out on top quite comfortably. Freiburg showed a good defensive display in their last game and will have to keep up the work to overcome this massive challenge.
