Introduction
Barcelona ended the 2020/21 season on a bit high. The season was another tough season for the Blaugranas. It came to an end with an improved squad and winning the Copa del Rey. The attack was quite promising for Barcelona but the defence still had many questions to answer. Barca defence struggled a lot which resulted in finishing 3rd in La Liga and getting knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 against PSG.

The Blaugranas are back once again and looking forward to the new season. Barca is actively trying to find a quality centre back and a proper Striker for the 2021/22 season. Which indeed will boost their chances of winning the LA LIGA and also the UCL. Since Ronald Koeman last season couldn’t make any new signings. Things are different this time. He is getting the players he wanted and President Joan Laporta believes backing to the maximum. If Ronald Koeman can’t win the LA LIGA next season then it will be very unlikely that he will continue as Barca coach anymore.
Now let’s have look at their signings so far
KUN AGUERO
Barcelona’s first signing of the new season came out of bed none other than Kun Aguero. He played for Manchester city in the premier league. He is one of the best strikers all over the world and of course the premier league. Aguero is known as a club legend at the Manchester City team. Barcelona was struggling last season with a proper No 9 and so Kun Aguero has been signed by the Barca board as he provides the vast experience and quality which is needed. One of the important things about this signing was that it was a free transfer. Now the only thing that remains is a place in the starting 11 and the concern regarding his injury. Barcelona and head coach Ronald Koeman believe he is going to be an important player for the new season.
ERIC GARCIA
Barca’s 2nd signing came as Eric Garcia who also played for Manchester City. He came back to Barca after a lack of games under pep Guardiola at City. Barca’s defence was one of the worst last seasons and with the arrival of Eric Garcia Barca believe he will be a good centre back in the upcoming days and will lead the defence along with Ronald Araujo. Garcia arrived as a free transfer which also helped Barca financially considering their finances. He is very young but inexperienced which will be a concern for Ronald Koeman so Barca might be still looking out for an experienced centre back who can strengthen their defence.
MEMPHIS DEPAY
One of the biggest signing for Barcelona this season is Memphis Depay, a centre forward and former Olympique Lyonnais Striker. He played for the Netherlands this Euro 2020 and had a good tournament. He is being signed at the request of head coach Ronald Koeman (former Netherlands head coach) and is having a good relationship with Memphis and moreover, Barca was also looking for a good striker and Depay can fulfil that place. This signing too arrived as free transfer and is moderate wages which help Catalans economically a lot. There is a lot of expectations from Depay this season and hope that he can be a good player for Barcelona along with Messi, Fati, Aguero this season as Barca’s attacking line-up looks even much stronger and which could be a nightmare for other team’s defence.
EMERSON ROYAL
Emerson Royal is a Right back who was loaned to Real Betis by the Blaugranas and after a good performance, last season Barca has once again brought him for just 9 million. He can be an option for Dest who wasn’t such a consistent player for Barca last season With Sergio Roberto’s injury and moreover with a bad form Barca have kept in mind the need for Emerson who could be a starter for Barcelona for the new Season.
CONCLUSION
So far, it’s been a good summer transfer window for Barcelona with their Financial problems kept in mind. Technically they just got 4 players for just 9 million. As they are now focused on the departures right now and will no doubt continue to find a Centre back, a box-to-box Midfielder and prepare themselves to win trophies next season.
